The XP1000 is a single processor 21264 workstation with Tsunami core logic, code-named Monet at 500 MHz and Brisbane at 667 MHz. It was designed by the same workstation group as the Personal Workstation and shares its enclosure style, onboard Ethernet, and sound, but a Personal Workstation cannot be upgraded to an XP1000. ¹⁾

• 21272 (Tsunami) core logic, with two PCI buses ^{3) 4)}
• Two 64-bit and three 32-bit PCI slots and one ISA slot, which shares a position with a PCI slot ⁵⁾
• Eight DIMM slots in two banks of four, taking registered ECC memory; up to 2 GiB ⁶⁾
• Cypress IDE controller, as on the Miata GL and DS20 ⁷⁾
• Onboard wide UltraSCSI adapter ⁸⁾
• Onboard Tulip Ethernet and onboard Sound Blaster compatible audio ^{9) 10)}

Linux boots from SRM; there is no MILO for the XP1000. ¹¹⁾ The last XP1000 SRM release is V5.9-1, built in December 2000; ¹²⁾ other Tsunami systems received V7.x releases, and the XP1000 is absent from the V7.3 firmware CD. ^{13) 14)}

Current kernels support the XP1000 (CONFIG_ALPHA_DP264, or a generic kernel), which boots from SRM with aboot. ¹⁵⁾ The onboard Tulip Ethernet uses the tulip driver and the Cypress IDE controller the pata_cypress driver. ^{16) 17)} See Tsunami Systems for notes shared with the other Tsunami machines. In November 2024 Michael Cree's XP1000 booted Debian's 6.11.6 generic kernel, possibly with an aboot updated from upstream. Another XP1000, whose boot block held the 2004 aboot from Debian's aboot-base package, failed with "unzip: unknown compression method" on kernels after 6.4. ^{18) 19) 20)}

• Graphics slot: The graphics card must be in one of the top three slots; the bottom two 32-bit slots are on PCI bus 1. ²¹⁾
• Memory: a partly filled DIMM bank prevents the system from starting. ^{22) 23)}
• Power: the XP1000 draws between 300 and 500 W. ²⁴⁾ Its power supply is a standard 350 W ATX unit, which is easy to replace. ²⁵⁾
