The AlphaServer GS60, GS60E, and GS140 are AlphaServer 8200 and 8400 systems with 21264 CPUs: two to six in the GS60 and two to 14 in the GS140. ¹⁾ An AlphaServer 8200 could be upgraded to a GS60 and an 8400 to a GS140. ²⁾ The three share one firmware kit, built for the E2063-DA and E2067-DA CPU modules, which cannot be used on AlphaServer 8200 and 8400 systems. ³⁾

Except where noted, the following comes from the product profile. ⁴⁾

• Two to six 21264 CPUs in the GS60 and two to 14 in the GS140, each with 4 MiB of ECC protected onboard cache; the GS60 was sold as the 6/525 model ⁵⁾
• Up to 12 GiB of memory in the GS60 and 28 GiB in the GS140
• Up to 132 PCI slots in the GS60 and 144 in the GS140, on an I/O architecture with multiple high-speed channels for PCI, EISA, or XMI
• Integral UltraSCSI (40 MB/s) adapter for internal and external storage
• 40 or 48 internal storage slots, up to 720 GB of internal storage in the GS60 and 864 GB in the GS140
• Hot swap disks, RAID, N+1 redundant power supplies, ECC memory, heat, fan, and power supply sensors
• Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS only; Windows NT was promised but never shipped, although the firmware includes AlphaBIOS ⁶⁾
• CPU upgrades use dual-CPU modules; one dual 500 MHz EV6 module replaces two 625 MHz EV56 modules, without a change of backplane ⁷⁾

No Linux kernel has supported these systems; a kernel loaded by aboot halts as soon as it starts. ⁸⁾

• Power: the GS60 was sold with a universal single-phase power supply, ⁹⁾ but the GS60E system cabinet's three power supplies need three-phase AC, 120/208 V wye in North America, and the cabinet draws up to 2,450 W. ¹⁰⁾
