At that time that was probably the largest hard drive combination which
would reasonably work.
Any modern 3.5 in. drive which runs cool enough to not require fans in
front of it would work just fine. You might even be able to get away with
a 10k rpm drive if it was one of the most recent generations, although
that might be pushing it heatwise.
